Licensed Practical Nurse

This hospital-based program provides the necessary preparation and clinical experience to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in approximately one year. The entire program is taught in English.

The LPN is a vital and valued healthcare team member. As a practical nurse, individuals have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, clinics, community health agencies, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, schools, physician offices, home health services, and the military.

The LPN is an active participant in wellness promotion, as well as in the care of the ill in all stages of the life span. Practical nurses render care and treatment under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed physician.

Mercy Hospital School of Practical Nursing offers a unique program through its affiliation with Miami Dade College that enables students to advance in their nursing career by becoming registered nurses through the LPN to RN Transition Program.
