Medical Director of the Orthopaedic Institute at Mercy Hospital Presented at the American Orthoapadic Association 2007 Annual Meeting

(Miami, FL) August 31, 2007 ‑ Carlos Lavernia, M.D., F.A.A.O.S., medical director of the Orthopaedic Institute at Mercy Hospital, presented at the highly competitive and very prestigious American Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting in Asheville, North Carolina which was held on June 13 – 16, 2007. The AOA holds an annual meeting in different areas around the world each year where members assemble to discuss, debate and learn new issues about the specialty of orthopedics.

Dr. Carlos Lavernia presented a paper titled “Multimodal Pain Management & Arthrofibrosis in Primary TKR”. The objective of the paper was to assess the effect of a multimodal pain management protocol on the development of arthrofibrosis after primary total knee arthroplasty. This was one of five reconstruction papers presented as a Discussion Poster.

“It was an honor to be given the opportunity to present at the AOA Annual Meeting,” said Dr. Lavernia. “To be recognized by the AOA to this degree represents the talent and expertise offered at the Orthopaedic Institute at Mercy Hospital.”
