Miami, FL – March 14, 2007 – Mercy Hospital has been recognized by the Florida Medical Quality Assurance, Inc. (FMAQI) as a QIO-certified hospital for its collaboration with the organization on Medicare inpatient projects. It is this type of commitment to quality care by hospitals like Mercy that has led to significant improvements in health care for Medicare beneficiaries.

FMQAI is a quality improvement organization that partners with healthcare providers and practitioners to improve patient care and outcomes. FMQAI works closely with hospitals, nursing homes, physician practices, home health agencies, dialysis facilities, and managed care organizations to create a healthcare environment founded on quality processes. Specifically, FMQAI works with Florida hospitals and the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, on quality improvement projects by offering hands-on resources, one-on-one training and staff education.
