Mercy Hospital Announces the Launch of its New Integrated Medical Group
Miami, FL (October 26, 2009) – Mercy Hospital is announcing the launch of its new integrated medical group, which will help shape the future of the only Catholic hospital in Miami-Dade County. The development of the Mercy Hospital Medical Group will take the non-profit organization into a new direction of collaboration between physicians and its administration.
“The Mercy Hospital Medical Group is a new and sophisticated employment model that will help increase the synergy between Mercy and Holy Cross,” said John C. Johnson, President & CEO of Mercy Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital. “The new medical group will also reinforce our commitment to deliver excellent quality care and services to our patients, families and the South Florida Community.” The implementation of medical groups is a new trend in the hospital industry.
The Mercy Hospital Medical Group is following into the footsteps of Holy Cross Medical Group; its sister facility. With more than 100 multi-specialty physicians, The Holy Cross Medical Group has had tremendous success in Broward County since being established 15 years ago.
Members of the Mercy Hospital Medical Group include: Charles Lascano, M.D., Family Medicine & Sports Medicine; Moises Irizarry-Roman, M.D., Family Medicine & Sports Medicine; Tihesha Wilson, M.D., Surgical Oncology and Breast Surgery; Susan Lurie, M.D., Family Medicine; Alexander Lurie, M.D., Endocrinology; Venus Rivera, M.D., Orthopaedic Surgery specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction; Michael Hellinger, M.D., Colon & Rectal Surgery and Gerard Barrios, M.D., Non-Invasive Cardiology.
New and established physicians will be full-time employees of Mercy Hospital and receive full benefits, including health, 403b, life insurance, disability, vacation and malpractice insurance. Holy Cross Medical Group will provide their management and billing expertise to the Mercy Hospital Medical Group.
