David A. Marley, SR., Respected Community Activist and Former Mercy Hospital Board Member, Has Passed Away

Miami, FL (March 24, 2008) – David A. Marley, Sr. a dedicated patron of the South Florida Community and of Mercy Hospital, passed away on March 18 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.

Mr. Marley co-founded with his son, Creative Financial Concepts, Inc., a Corporate Register Investment Advisor (CRIA) and a full service financial planning firm, specializing in the needs of high net worth individuals and business owners.

Mr. Marley was an active member in the Miami community. He was a Grand Benefactor, Founder and a founding member of the Ambassadors of Mercy Foundation at Mercy Hospital, Miami, Florida. He was also member of the United Way of Miami-Dade County Community Development Committee and a Trustee of the United Way of Miami-Dade County.

Mr. Marley also served on many corporate boards, which most recently included Vice President of Morningstar Renewal Center, past member of the Mercy Hospital Board of Trustees, and Treasurer of the Mercy Hospital Board of Trustees.

Mr. Marley was the recipient of many civic awards including the Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley Award in December 2006. This honor was bestowed to him for his ongoing philanthropic efforts and his years of commitment to Mercy Hospital’s vision and mission. Mr. Marley is one of only seven recipients of this award in Mercy Hospital’s fifty year history. He also recently received the Catholic Health East (CHE) Excellence in Governance Award for his work on the Mercy Hospital Board of Directors.

Visitation/Wake Service will be held Tuesday, March 25th, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Pinecrest, FL, 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26th at St. Louis Church at 11:00 AM. Mr. Marley’s family has respectfully requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following organizations: International Mesothelioma Program; Mercy Foundation; Morningstar Renewal Center; or CaringBridge.
