Years of Dedication and Service Have Helped Keep Mercy’s Mission Alive
Miami, FL (January 2, 2008) – Every year Mercy Hospital recognizes an individual whose dedicated service to others helps to increase awareness, and build the vision of Mercy, in honor of Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley. Archbishop Hurley envisioned a place where healing and healthcare was available to all. It is in that vision that Mercy Hospital was created. This year, Mercy honors Jerry A. Mashburn with the distinguished Archbishop Hurley Award.
Mashburn has been part of the Mercy family for the past 36 years. Serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, he has raised the bar of integrity at Mercy Hospital in both the human resource and financial perspective. When the hospital was undergoing tough times, Mashburn helped navigate trough the storm with his leadership abilities.
Dedicating his talents and compassion to Mercy Hospital since January 5, 1972, Mashburn epitomizes its core values of reverence, community, justice, commitment to those who are poor, stewardship, courage, and integrity. It is through this award that the hospital takes time to thank him for his dedication to Mercy and to its financial needs. All who have worked with Mr. Mashburn believe he represents the heart and soul of Mercy Hospital.
