The Diabetes Treatment Center (DTC) at Mercy Hospital has been serving the South Florida community since 1986 and offers one of the most established diabetes education programs in Miami-Dade County.
Inpatient Services
During your stay at Mercy Hospital the DTC’s experienced staff of diabetes educators, registered dietitians and nurses, will work hand-in-hand with you and your physicians to determine your specific needs and ensure proper metabolic and medication management. The diabetes team will also educate you on essential self-management skills prior to discharge.
Outpatient Self-Management Program
With a referral from your physician, the DTC’s specially trained staff will create an individualized care plan with a number of options including:
- A core education series
- Advanced education modules focusing on:
- Blood sugar monitoring
- Insulin management
- Weight management
- Nutritional counseling and meal planning
- Support for you and your family
- Exercise
- Stress management
- Specialized education programs, including Insulin Pump Therapy and Diabetes with pregnancy
